The three young men mentioned above were in a foreign land serving a foreign king. They were young men who had been taken into exile and to make matters worse they were now forced to worship a false image and threatened to the point of death if they would not bow down to the image. Eventually they are thrown into the fiery furnace for not obeying the law of the land but an amazing miracle takes place. The young men become fireproof! The bible tells us that they are thrown into the furnace and expected to be consumed in an instant but something unexpected happens. They remain standing without a trace of pain or anguish. The bible goes on further to state that not a single hair on their head was burnt because they were protected by the Lord. As I read this story I am encouraged to know that God is there to protect US in our times of trouble. In the times when the heat rises in our lives. But I also take note that in order for God to make us fireproof we need to walk with the Lord before the fire comes. The Hebrew young men had a strong relationship with the Lord before their trouble came. They walked in faith with Him before the tribulation. They did not wait for the test to come to connect with their God but rather had a strong communion with Him long before the fire. I want to encourage you today to walk with the Lord now so that we may all be prepared and become fireproof when the heat is turned up in our lives. When the troubles come rushing in, when the test seems so tough, God will provide us with the fireproof jacket of His love and peace that will allow us to step out of that furnace and be a testimony to all those around us just as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were to all who saw them. Let's be fireproof and a testimony to others of the protection and strength we find only in the Lord.
God bless you
